Caleb's Quote

Every once in awhile (actually quite often) Caleb comes up with a funny and quite insightful thing to say right out of the blue. We will post a few of them from time to time...

"Kids don't marry kids, especially your cousins! When you get older you marry someone who isn't already married that you really like!"

He came up with this last night when Jon was tucking him in for bed...I think because he has a deep admiration for his cousin Cassidy and would like to marry her someday (if he could)! I think that he basically summed it up pretty well in the 2nd sentence! We thought it would be neat to jot this one down and give to his future fiance' someday!

Baseball

Jon was out of town in Rapid City last week and arrived home on Thursday evening. We had a few tickets to a Canaries (local Minor League team) baseball game for Thursday, so we decided to take the boys. Jon took the boys to one earlier this summer and they loved it. Well, they mostly loved the food, music, and watching the mascot walk around...I am not sure how much they loved the game! We have discovered that Caleb will get through anything lengthy if he has some food and a beverage and Josh will get through anything lengthy if he has room to move around...food is optional! Both of them like to dance to the music each time it comes on, so that was enough entertainment for us!

Fruit Anyone?

Caleb loves his Vacation Bible School class. It is called Son Harvest and he is learning all about the Fruit of the Spirit. He got to help plant a little garden and learn how seeds grow, they made strawberry jam (which was very good), and last week they made the little ball throwers that he is holding in the video. They have covered Love and Joy so far. Next week will be Peace. He is very good at memorizing his Bible verses too! They are planning a little program the end of the summer and this is a little clip of one of the songs. There is another one that he is learning sign language for.

Pools of Fun!

Caleb & Joshua had so much fun in the backyard playing in the pool. As Jon put it...2 hours of getting the thing all inflated for 1 hour of fun...I guess it was worth it! Our battery operated pump would not work on the pool, so he had to use a manual bike pump. After all of that, we decided not to deflate it and just put it in the garage as is. I am not sure we would be all that excited to get the thing out again if we had to do that every time!

Yummy Smores

We decided to have some fun in the backyard yesterday and camp at home. That involves mom and Josh sleeping in the air conditioned house and Daddy and Caleb in the tent! Actually, it was a beautiful night, so I would have enjoyed it too, but someone had to be in the house with Josh! Jon got out the fire pit and Josh had his first (of many I am sure) smores. This is a favorite of mine, so I won't tell how many I had! Dad and Caleb had a good night in the tent, but I think that Jon forgot to totally zip up one of the windows because Caleb had about 5 mosquito bites on his face this morning...oops...good thing no spiders got in...Jon would have surely freaked out! He will have to tell you the story of his recent encounter with the biggest spider he has ever seen. It is kind of like those fish stories...it gets bigger each time I hear the story!!
