My Truck is Stuck...Yuck!!

I want to preface this little story with the fact that Josh loves trucks...anything to do with trucks...and he loves to pretend they are stuck. We checked out a book a few weeks ago called "My Truck is Stuck." We have had it about 1 month now & it is due back tomorrow...sad day! Anyway, the title tells you enough I am sure...it is about a truck that gets stuck in a hole in the road and different types of vehicles try to pull it out. In the end, a tow truck comes to the rescue! Anyway, all that to say that Josh loves to take his trucks and pretend they are stuck in silly putty, play dough, velveeta cheese (yes, he has done this), blankets, or imaginary mud...anything will do! Well, that is where the "anything" is literally true! Yesterday will forever go down in history as one of the most disgusting days in my journey of motherhood so far! The kids were in the living room playing so quietly (that should have given me a clue...duh), and I was cleaning up after lunch. All of a sudden, Caleb yelled out that Josh pooped and it really stunk! Well, this is nothing new...Josh still has not had a BM in the toilet and I usually end up cleaning up one or two messes in his underwear a day. So, I took my time and I went out to the living room to discover one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen. Poop smeared on the carpet in about a 2 ft. radius in front of the couch. I was so disgusted and eager to get it cleaned up immediately that I did not take a picture...actually I saw (and smelled) enough of it while I cleaned it up and have no need to capture it in a picture! Besides, who wants to see that anyway!!?? So, after working on the stain for about 1/2 hour, I just could not shake that terrible smell and was convinced there was some stray poop somewhere that I needed to sanitize. I sniffed around a bit and my nose took me to his little red truck! That was it...he was driving and getting his little red truck stuck in his poop...I was so disgusted! Obviously he has no idea that poop is soooo dirty and that it is truly a very disgusting thing! So, I sprayed the truck down with sanitizer and tried to get Josh to understand that poop is very dirty and nothing to get "stuck" in...I don't know if he gets it...we will see!

On a more positive note...he is doing great with staying dry...very few accidents!

I apologize for not having any new posts for a few weeks...I have been drowning in pull-up's, Thomas the Train underwear, carpet cleaner, tears and pee...literally! I have to say, I was ready to give up earlier this week and give Josh (and Mommy) a break and try again in a month or two. But, I went online and got more advice and downloaded an online book called "3 Day Potty Training" by Lora Jensen. 3daypottytraining.com is excellent and even has a chapter devoted to multiples and special needs kids. I would highly recommend it if you are about to embark on the potty adventure with your little one!! So, I decided I would give it another try and I have to say, that it works!! Her approach requires that you put them in underwear and not use pull-ups and basically follow their every move for 3 days. Not easy! I did cheat a bit and I use pull up's for nap and bedtime. I don't want to clean up beds in the middle of the night!!

Josh had 8 accidents the first day and I was exhausted from cleaning up pee, he had 2 accidents the 2nd day, and yesterday we took him out on a few outings and he did not wet himself and only had 1 accident at home! We were heading home from Barnes & Noble last night and Josh said "potty" and his little desperate eyeballs were floating!! We had about 5 more minutes to get home...and bad luck...we had to wait for a train! We thought he would be wet for sure by the time we got home...nope...he held it!
I think that it will take some time for the BM's, but that is fine with me. That is easy to clean up and does not require changing all his clothes and scrubbing the carpet!!

Josh has found some creative things to do with his new big boy underwear...sportin' his new Elmo hat!

Random Fun Pics

We finally had some balmy 40ish degree weather here in SD, so the boys all headed outside...yeah! The snow was a bit more sticky, so it was perfect snow man weather. Caleb has been so eager to make a snow man this year. A few days later, as the weather warmed up even more, the rocks fell out of the snow man's mouth and it looked like he was missing his dentures!

Caleb & Josh decided to have a huge stuffed animal picnic!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

We celebrated Jon's 36th birthday a few days early this year because he had to be in Rapid City the week of his birthday for work. Caleb had so much fun drawing special cards for Daddy!

And, he "designed" Daddy's cake too! He said that he wanted coffee on it and the tree from his Diego cake...so this is how it turned out!! A cup of coffee and a palm tree...original! Also, showing off his 'huge pipes'!

They had a lot of fun singing to Daddy. You know you have kids when your party has a kids theme...Elmo napkins from Josh's 2nd birthday...sorry Jon!?

Josh has quite the sweet tooth...so he could not wait to dig in!
